Do you feel the energy too?

Where’s your energy at the moment?
I feel like there’s sort of uncomfortable, unsettling sensation in the air.
It’s anxious, unpredictable, unstable.
It creates a tightness in the chest and a twitchiness throughout the body.
There’s a sense of fragility like I am more sensitive to what’s happening around me but it’s not clear why.
Then Mette called.
“I was with the ladies form the network this morning and we all felt a bit ‘off’. The energy seemed all wonky, even through the screen. Can you feel it?”
When I heard her message, I had a strange feeling. I recognised what she was describing but I felt resistance to it. Part of me didn’t want to know, to hear.
I had just finished four days of very intense, rewarding work with a group of managers and was experiencing a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. I had been in a very focused bubble for the last four days. Concentrated on delivering the course and really connecting with the people who attended. I was inspired by these people and it had been genuinely heart-
warming to experience their passion for their work. That “sense of purpose” that so many businesses hope to create was genuinely present in many of the people I had been sharing the last few days with and it’s very contagious.
I had just had a four-day break from that other energy. In a bubble where I barely looked at social media and saw a few minutes of the news on TV before starting my day’s work.
A lot of unsettling and frightening things have been in the news lately. War, conflict, politic and global financial turmoil.
There is a lot of anger, fear and confusion and on overall sense of chaos and instability. Things that are normal and reassuring seem to be under threat. Peace, economic stability.
It reminds me of the pervasive anxiety and animosity and fear that was permanently floating through the air during the COVID pandemic. Fear of an unclear, poorly understood threat. Drastically different reactions and points of view. Arguments flaring up between friends and family and conflicts arising out of day-to-day activities like buying food and leaving your home to go outside.
So what can you do?
Start by exploring how you’re feeling. What are you feeling? Where’s it showing up in your body?
Accept that it is here and that it’s normal. Our environment and the people around us, impact our energy. If things are unstable and out of sync. Then it’s no wonder catabolic energy is showing up.
What’s catabolic energy? It’s the energy of fear, helplessness, anger, loss of control. It depletes us, saps our reserves and narrows our vision and our capacity to see things in a different light.
What kind of thoughts and actions is that catabolic energy leading to?
What is it you can actually control right now?
Unless you are a head of state, a lot of what is happening in the world stage is outside of your control.
Your thought and actions are in your control, and you can re-set your own frequency and start moving out of the catabolic energy.
So what enables you to do that?
Maybe it’s a social media break or switching off the news channels. Maybe it’s taking a walk somewhere that you can connect with the natural environment and cut out the noise of the society around you.
Maybe it’s spending time with people that help you focus on something meaningful and enjoyable.
Whatever it is, start exploring what helps you to connect to and appreciate what is accessible to you now.
If we start taking care of our energy then it will expand and start to resonate with those around us.
Let’s do what we can to shift the frequency around us and who know how impactful that might start to be.
