‘Witch’ was a term used in the 1400's to describe a woman who refused the social expectations and norms placed on women. They often lived amongst other witches, in synchronicity with nature and in tune with their bodies. Their defiance was a threat to the system and as we know, witches were heavily persecuted as a result.
